Uranus is so far from Earth that even with a telescope, it looks like a dim star. The planet wasn't discovered until the 18th century.
1690 - English astronomer John Flamsteed discovers what he thinks is a new star. He calls it 34 Tauri. The "star" was near the constellation Taurus the Bull. 34 Tauri was actually Uranus.
1700s - Astronomer Pierre Charles Lemonnier spots Uranus 13 different times. He thinks he has seen 13 different stars!
